This page describes the current WordsByVoice website and desktop prototype. Existing test builds may use the name SayAndWrite.com.

Visiting this website

The site does not request microphone access, record audio, or include advertising pixels or analytics scripts added by us. Writing examples on the homepage are illustrative. Our hosting provider processes network information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as your IP address and request details.

Contacting support

Email links open your email app. If you send a message, your email address, message and any attachments are processed through our GoDaddy-hosted email service so we can respond. Please avoid sending passwords, API keys, private recordings or other sensitive material.

Using cloud dictation

The current desktop prototype records audio in memory while you dictate. When you finish, it sends the recording to OpenAI to produce text. Cancelling during recording discards the recording before upload. Optional writing styles send the text you choose to rewrite to OpenAI. Vocabulary entries may be included as transcription context.

OpenAI’s own data-handling policies apply. This is cloud processing, not an offline or zero-retention promise. The current prototype uses your own OpenAI API account.

Information on your computer

The installed app stores an imported API key using the operating system’s encrypted credential storage. Do not share your key. Optional text history is stored locally and is not encrypted by the app; you can clear or disable it in Settings. Shortcut dictation does not automatically save to history.

On a failed transcription, audio may remain in memory so you can retry or download it. Starting a new shortcut dictation replaces the previous failed recording. Closing the app loses audio held in memory. Dictated text may also remain on your clipboard until replaced.

Your choices

You can cancel an active recording, change microphone permissions, manage local history, and stop using the app. For a question about information you’ve sent to support, contact support@wordsbyvoice.com.
